Regular coconut oil is made from dried coconut kernel called ‘copra’. The copra is pressed, extracted oil is refined, decolourized and bleached. This process makes it suitable for consumption but extracts all the natural values. On the other hand, virgin coconut oil is extracted from the fresh milk of coconut using cold press process which maintains all the natural constituents, aroma, and antioxidants of the oil.
As virgin coconut oil is extracted from coconut milk, it has better aroma and taste as compared to the regular one. Also, virgin coconut oil has a luscious, tropical coconut scent and flavour.
- Unrefined (not refined, bleached or deodorized)
- Expeller pressed (mechanically produced, no chemicals used)
- Made from fresh coconut meat instead of copra
- Antioxidant nutrition is maintained
- cold pressed
- Strong coconut flavor
Tip: The smell & taste of a true virgin coconut oil is faint & will smell like you are cracking into a fresh coconut. If your oil has a nutty smell or roasted smell then it is heated at least 45 degrees and that means it no longer a raw coconut or a fresh coconut.
